It is said that the only freebie you can get in the world is advice (no, I know that doctors, lawyers charge a lot for their views, so they are out of the question). And, in the advice given by anyone, 85 percent will amount to self-praise.
There are many in the world who nurture a secret ambition of becoming a world-famous author by getting their stories published. It is not a bad ambition either. However, with every Tom, Dick and Harry wanting to become the "Lord of the Rings" the book should be backed with intense and exciting content. Writing and completing a book are two different factors. You can write anytime you want, but completion of a book might take months and years. And unless you are interested in a specific genre, it would not be advisable to shift from the area of your passion.
Writing a book needs patience and setting goals. Some of the persons who want to become famous authors are more focused on the end point and the fame they may achieve if their book becomes a success, but the question is how to write an interesting book? They mostly miss the steps that can lead to completion of the book. Before aiming for the podium, it is advisable to know where the steps are, and the ways as well as methods to climb them. The most important aspect is that all the steps cannot be completed in one leap.
How To Set Up Goals For Writing A Book:
There should be three sets of goals:
One - long-term goals which are for the future
Two - short-term goals which can lead us to long-term goals.
Third - Breaking the short-term goals into short steps. The steps should be able to be easily completed.
If you are interested in writing a book, then these points can be of use to you:
Think of an idea
Research on the content and subject
Write the proper content
Revision and editing the text
Finding a publisher
The goals should range from daily completion of tasks to weekly to monthly targets.
Also, you should search for knowledge and various skills in the particular area you want to write your story on. The more you seek for knowledge, more will your gain mastery of the language and many points which can be added to the story. However, if you are in the mid-40s and the writing bug has bitten you, ensure that you do not neglect your family duties.
